Ahhhh.... The Joys of Living In A Small Town

When we first moved to the town we live in 7 years ago it was literaly nothing more than a map dot -with little more than 1 grocery store and a McDonald's. Well, fast forward a few years and we are one of the fastest growing cities in the country and we now have a Taco Bell, Jack in The Box, Arby's, Wendy's, and as of 5:00 PM last night- A Burger King.
Of course we had to head over on opening night because Thing 1 and thing 2 (I mean, my children) have been begging to go since they broke ground. We were not the only ones -there was a line to get in the door - At Burger King!!!! We crowded in the building to be the 27th customer EVER served and the kids had a blast.
I am not the biggest BK fan in the World, but I did find it rather amusing that we were there with almost every other person in town. Small town happenings - Gotta love it!

Hee. That's how it was when our town got a Sonic. LOL.

my kids always know what food chain is giving out what toy at any given time. it's so funny how things like that can be such a big deal for the kids!

Living in a small town certainly allows you to appreciate 'simple things' in life.

Nice disguise :-)

It looks as if you have a full and active life in your little town. Your kids are lovely.

Sounds like great fun! Your little one sleeping in the previous post is precious. What a picture!
Thanks for visiting and saying hello. It's always great to meet a fellow New Yorker :)
You certainly must be a busy mom!! Enjoy those boys!

I think it's cool to be able to say that you were the 27th customer of this particular BK - it will be something the kids can talk about their whole lives, when the BK is still around when they are older - cool. I'm not a big BK fan either - I only really like their chicken sandwich. Cute story. See you soon. Kellan

Is that Ronald McDonald at BK?

Now that is a small town, somehow I could never see that happening in a big city...:-)

Thanks for stopping by.. I have a 6 year old who keeps losing his teeth too. The tooth fairly is going broke fast!

I bet your kids had a blast!
Kellan's right.........that's pretty cool that at least when they are older they can say they were the 27TH CUSTOMER to be served there!
Fun stuff :)

Lol.

You know I think it would be VERY cool to say that I was the 27th customer served in the BK in town.

You'll be dining out on that story for YEARS to come.

hey- thanks for stopping by :) I miss living in a small town. Actually, we live in a town outside of a city, but it doesnt have that small town feel.

I can totally relate to this! We live in a rapidly growing smaller town, that will probably soon be converted to a city. :) We love watching all the new businesses going in!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love having new visitors!

See...who knew that a BK could bring so much joy? You take it where you can find it! And 27th customer ever? Pretty cool :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog.. very sweet comment. :)

I live in a small town as well (well really its considered a community) and I like my small atmosphere places. I like where everybody knows everybody.

Where I live we have 2 locally owned restaurants, a Post Office, and an Elementary school. Anyone who lives here must drive at least 20-25 mins to the middle school and high school.

Thats so funny about the BK. Woo-Hoo! #27 congrats. LOL!

Oh wow! That IS a small town. You all know each others business, don't you? My neighbors won't even wave at me.

Mmmmmm, burgers. But I am not such a fan of the Burger King fries. In fact, I think I am a bona fide fry snob.

Just wanted to say thanks for stopping by!

I blogged about the same thing happening around here when Arby's finally opened the next town over. (Our town has 4500 people, the next over about 13,000.)

The main street is also a State and US highway and traffic was backed up for miles in both directions trying to get in. It was quite funny.

Almost as funny as when the delivery of my parent's new house (a modular) messed up traffic on the highway.

Definitely the joys of a small town.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Oh, well, of course everybody's going to go to the opening of a Burger King in a small town. Heck I was there.

last week in Phoenix, they got an in n out burger...it was insane. They had a mobile command unit, and police everywhere...there was even a sign on the freeway for which exit to take. Insane I tell you!

Totally relate! We don't even have a chain restaurant in our town. One small mom and pop. The closest town 8 miles away got a Home Depot last month and we were right there with everyone else opening day. Cheap Thrills!! (But I wouldn't trade it!!)

Thanks for stopping by my blog. We do have a good time. Michael is a great kid and we are lucky to have each other. I live in a small town, too and BK is the only fast food place we do have.

Is that a for-real-you-took-picture? Or just a funny foto? Cause, seriously, it's hysterical.

I know what you mean about small town. Ours is, and I LOVE it. We got a Starbucks and you'd have thought they were giving away free money rather than overcharging for coffee. And you can bet that I was right there, too! haha

Just a funny pic - It just seemed like everyone was there -I'm sure the competition vistited too! LOL!

we are in the complete opposite predicament. evidently one company or individual owned the three burger kings in our large town and all of them, ALL of THEM were gone OVERNIGHT! it was soooo sad for us. we have to drive about 20 minutes to get us a good flame broiled, hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, have it your way, have it your way burger king whopper with cheese... sorry reminiscing some goo ol'days....
