Mirror Fun

I took the boys to Osh Kosh B'Gosh to get some new pants. While we were there they discovered that the mirrors on the dressing room doors were fun mirrors like the ones at carnival rides. They had a blast making themselves look "strange". More Pictures.

Wordless Wednesday

This picture is from last year (and one of the boys missed the shot!) - but we are all hoping for some snow so we can do it again!

Kids In The Kitchen

Russian Tea Cakes (The EASY way)
I love baking Christmas Cookies with my boys- Especially when I can find ways to make them easier and quicker. (Boys are not known for their patience - they want them and they want them NOW!)
Ingredients

1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury® Create 'n Bake® refrigerated sugar cookies
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup finely chopped pecans
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
Directions

1. Heat oven to 350ºF. In large bowl, break up cookie dough. Stir or knead in flour, pecans and vanilla until well blended.

2.Shape dough into 54 (1-inch) balls. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

3. Bake 10 to 14 minutes or until set but not brown. Remove from cookie sheets. Cool slightly on cooling rack.

4.Roll warm cookies in powdered sugar; cool on cooling rack. Roll in powdered sugar again.

Word Smarts

Do you think you are pretty clever? Try out this site http://www.freerice.com/index.php

For every word you get right, the United Nations World Food Program will donate 10 grains of rice. There are 50 word levels, but most people don't get past 48 - I got stuck around 47 before I decided to give it a rest (hey -we can only waste so much time! LOL)

So test your smarts and help out a great cause! How high could you get?

National Goof-Off Day

Today is National Goof-off Day! Here are some fun ways to goof off with your child:
*Pack a picnic lunch and go to the park or museum.

*Build a “fort” in the living room. Take blankets or sheets and drape them over several chairs, leaving an opening for the door. Put fun things inside: books to read, snacks, games, pillows, music.
* Play games.
*Blow up balloons.
*Blow bubbles.

* Go to the movies.
* Go fly a kite

*Turn on the TV and take turns selecting the programs you and the kids are going to goof-off watching. Eat fun things like pizza, popcorn, and candy. Hey, it's just for one day. Don't worry about it.

*Purchase a large puzzle and see how many pieces you and the kids can put together before Dad gets home.

*Invite a friend over and play scrabble, drink coffee, gossip, and eat pizza while the kids watch their favorite videos.

Whatever you do today - DON"T
Cook - Wash - Vacuum - Dust - or Scrub! It's not legal!
